About this event
Becoming a member of the Capitol Circle means taking pride in supporting your local arts community and commitment to the well-being of the Capitol Theatre. 1963—Federico Fellini, director—starring Marcello Mastroianni, Claudia Cardinale Federico Fellini’s 8½ is another Best Costume Design Oscar winner: it’s a showcase of stylish Sixties Italian fashion (and it pulls a neat trick with it in the final reel). It also won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. Fellini made 8½ following a lengthy struggle to come up with ideas for his next film project. He suddenly decided to make a self-referential movie about that struggle. Even the film’s title reflects this, as it isn’t really a title at all: Fellini had already made seven features and one short film—seven-and-a-half films, if you like—so this project was Untitled Movie No. 8½. 8½ will be screened in Italian with English subtitles. The Capitol Theatre welcomes individuals with disabilities to attend performances and other events at our facility. We are committed to providing accessible services in a manner that maintains the dignity and independence of all while providing equality of access and integration. The Capitol Theatre wishes to acknowledge the original caretakers of this land: the Wendake-Nionwentsio, the Mississauga, the Anishinabewaki, and many other nations–recorded and unrecorded. This theatre has a long history, but there is a much longer history in this region and we can all do a better job of recognizing that history. Open one hour prior to all live performances. Closed on statutory holidays.
