About this event

Becoming a member of the Capitol Circle means taking pride in supporting your local arts community and commitment to the well-being of the Capitol Theatre. 1955—Billy Wilder, director—starring Tom Ewell, Marilyn Monroe, Evelyn Keyes The only significant award with which The Seven Year Itch was recognized was a Golden Globe for Best Actor (Motion Picture Musical or Comedy) won by its star Tom Ewell, reprising his role in George Axelrod’s hit Broadway play. Ewell is marvelous in the film; but you can be forgiven if your attention is wholly captured by Marilyn Monroe—everyone else’s was! Another in her series of immortal sexpot roles, this one is forever associated with the iconic image of her white dress billowing up above her legs in the draft from the NYC subway grating. Comedy master Billy Wilder directed from the screenplay he co-wrote with playwright Axelrod. The Capitol Theatre welcomes individuals with disabilities to attend performances and other events at our facility. We are committed to providing accessible services in a manner that maintains the dignity and independence of all while providing equality of access and integration. The Capitol Theatre wishes to acknowledge the original caretakers of this land: the Wendake-Nionwentsio, the Mississauga, the Anishinabewaki, and many other nations–recorded and unrecorded. This theatre has a long history, but there is a much longer history in this region and we can all do a better job of recognizing that history. Open one hour prior to all live performances. Closed on statutory holidays.
