About this event

Becoming a member of the Capitol Circle means taking pride in supporting your local arts community and commitment to the well-being of the Capitol Theatre. 1966—Michelangelo Antonioni, director—starring David Hemmings, Vanessa Redgrave One of the most intriguing movies of the Sixties, Blow-Up features British actor David Hemmings as Thomas, a mod fashion photographer in Swinging London. Like so much great art, Blow-Up looks at illusion vs. reality, as perceived in the shallow lives of Sixties youth, the faux glamour of Carnaby Street and Twiggy, and the trivial, insincere encounters of the sexual revolution. At the film’s heart is a mystery: but, the deeper Thomas delves into it, the more it seems to evaporate. This fascinating film, marking its 60th anniversary, was Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni’s first in the English language. It won the Palme D’Or, the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival. The Capitol Theatre welcomes individuals with disabilities to attend performances and other events at our facility. We are committed to providing accessible services in a manner that maintains the dignity and independence of all while providing equality of access and integration. The Capitol Theatre wishes to acknowledge the original caretakers of this land: the Wendake-Nionwentsio, the Mississauga, the Anishinabewaki, and many other nations–recorded and unrecorded. This theatre has a long history, but there is a much longer history in this region and we can all do a better job of recognizing that history. Open one hour prior to all live performances. Closed on statutory holidays.
