About this event
Becoming a member of the Capitol Circle means taking pride in supporting your local arts community and commitment to the well-being of the Capitol Theatre. Experience one of Canada’s most exciting young musical talents on the rise. From the celebrated MacMaster–Leahy family, Mary Frances grew up surrounded by some of Canada’s most iconic musicians. Now, at only 20, she’s establishing herself as one of the country’s most compelling young performers. A 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award Young Performer winner, Mary Frances has already performed more than 650 shows, shared stages with artists including Yo-Yo Ma and Béla Fleck, appeared at major festivals across Canada and internationally, and is building a rapidly growing online following with performances amassing hundreds of thousands — and even millions — of views. A fiddler, pianist, composer, and step dancer, Mary Frances blends Celtic, jazz, & Latin influences into a sound that feels joyful, fresh, and utterly magnetic. Her debut solo album First Light earned critical acclaim and the 2024 Cape Breton Tourism Award, cementing what audiences quickly recognize: dazzling musicianship paired with an unmistakable artistic voice. And beyond the accolades? She’s absolutely charming. Join SONG’s annual Headliner Concert series for an unforgettable evening of music, storytelling, and the Sounds of the Next Generation of Canadian music. All proceeds support SONG’s free music education for youth across Northumberland. The Capitol Theatre welcomes individuals with disabilities to attend performances and other events at our facility. We are committed to providing accessible services in a manner that maintains the dignity and independence of all while providing equality of access and integration. The Capitol Theatre wishes to acknowledge the original caretakers of this land: the Wendake-Nionwentsio, the Mississauga, the Anishinabewaki, and many other nations–recorded and unrecorded. This theatre has a long history, but there is a much longer history in this region and we can all do a better job of recognizing that history. Open one hour prior to all live performances. Closed on statutory holidays.
