Join us for an afternoon of poetry, conversation, and celebration as we welcome authors Kate Rogers and Kathryn MacDonald to Readers’ Nook for a special summer launch event. Featuring guest readings from Gwynn Scheltema, this intimate summer event brings together voices exploring love, loss, myth, memory, and the fragile beauty of the natural world. Kate Rogers Kate Rogers’ Baba Yaga and the Girl Who Ate the Rope debuted with Frontenac House in Spring 2026. Kate won first prize in subTerrain Magazine’s Lush Triumphant Award for her five-poem suite, “My Mother’s House,” and first prize in the Trinity College Dublin “Book of Kells” contest for her poem, “John and the Book of Kells.” Kate’s poetry has appeared in numerous Canadian and international publications, including The Guardian. During April Poetry Month Kate spoke about Baba Yaga and the Girl Who Ate the Rope on CBC Radio’s Fresh Air. Her essay on books by Canadian authors which fed her creative process can be read on The 49th Shelf.
