Tea & History Speaker Series Presents Whitby Before Whitby
About this event
Most of Whitby's history is told from the arrival of the first Settlers, but who was here before them? Using maps, charts, images, and storytelling, guest speaker David Cook will explore the rich Indigenous history of Whitby before Whitby. David Cook has been an active member of local Indigenous culture for over 60 years, and brings a balance of traditional knowledge combined with scientific and historical enquiry. He will guide us through the Indigenous history of our community from the last Ice Age to the present. With cultural sensitivity, we will understand the events that shaped the past Indigenous lives in Durham Region, as well as those impacting today's Indigenous peoples. David is the newest volunteer at the Whitby Historical Society. Admission by donation. Register at 905-665-3131.
